It’s raining again! It’s cold, though I won’t use the word “Bitterly” because, after all, this is Arizona! Heh. It is colder than we normally see this time of year, but still not cold enough to break out a winter coat. We’re going to have the chance of rain through the entire week. My back yard is still wet from the last storm system that passed through.
On a brighter note, my tomatoes are still ripening on the vine, and they are SO tasty! They are only trickling in, though, not ever enough to get a good pot of spaghetti sauce going. Tonight I was holding Gavin and he saw the tomatoes on the counter. They are tiny cherry tomatoes, not much bigger than a peanut m&m. He was pitching a fit to have one, and of course then Piper wanted one, so we gave each of them one. They put them in their mouths, all happy, thinking they were getting a tasty piece of candy. They rolled them around their tongues, waiting for them to melt. When nothing happened they both bit into them at the same time. It was like watching a baby with a lemon for the first time. Not at all what they were expecting, and neither then wanted to finish eating them. Way too cute. I bet they don’t want round red candy for awhile!
Got the chocolate covered pretzels done today. Aren’t they pretty and Christmas-y? (Excuse the cell phone photography.)
Two more half days at work and then a few days off. I’m really looking forward to not doing the morning/afternoon commute. Sleeping in! (Yeah, right.)
I found out yesterday that Blaine and Nicole won’t be coming over Christmas Eve to make cookies. This will be the first year Blaine won’t be here. They’ll be spending it with Nicole’s Mom, so I can’t be too upset about it. I can’t expect them to spend all their time here and not spend some of the holidays with her Mom. Besides, we’ll be doing the whole thing over again in January, so they’ll probably be here for that one. Hooray for holiday Do-Overs!
Saturday at the commissary I was looking for eggnog, and they were sold out. I ended up having to buy soy milk eggnog, and … well, that just won’t do. Bryce will probably like it, as he likes soy milk, but I’ll probably make a WallyWorld run to get milk and eggnog tomorrow. Santa has to have his eggnog with his cookies, and this year I have fresh nutmeg to grate on top!
Quote of the Day:
And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.
